SPECIAL BULLETIN ::
Wolf is VCUR Conformant
December 20, 2007 – Wolf is VCUR-conformant in Alberta! Both our Local Server and ASP version of Wolf Medical Suite 5.2 are compliant with VCUR v2.1 requirements including the Pharmacy Information PIN system-to-system interoperability requirements. Dr. Tim Kolotyluk, Wolf's LPR physician, had this to say: “I was greatly impressed with Wolf’s integration of PIN into the Wolf system, its speed of operation, and I envision even better overall functionality of the product. Well done, Wolf – I love what I’ve seen so far.” Special thanks to Dr. Kolotyluk of Pembina in Drayton Valley and Dr. Heidi Fell of Symons Valley for agreeing to work with us and Alberta Health and Wellness to “road test” Wolf Medical Suite 5.2 through the VCUR finish line.

Alberta Physician Testimonials
"It is so much better looking in an EMR for patient information than looking for a note written somewhere in a visit record from two years ago." Heidi Fell, MD

"By using the advanced features of the EMR, physicians can become much more proactive and stay on top of their patient base." - Heidi Fell, MD

"When I bought my first computer back in the 80s I remember looking at it and thinking, "If I could ever talk to that and have it come up in words we'd have a really useful tool." Read the physician testimonial about EMR from Wolf user Dr. Tim Kolotyluk, of Westlock Alberta on the POSP website.

"Within the next decade at least, I think it will be the norm... if you're planning to stay in practice, this is something you will need to do." Read the physician testimonial about EMR from Wolf user Dr. Heidi Fell of Calgary Alberta on the POSP website.

"I have been using the Wolf Software since its implementation at our office in 2003. I have found the software to be user friendly and when working with six physicians who were not all computer literate we have found that records are much more complete. Security and confidentiality of patient records are of course a very important element.
With the Wolf system, a log is kept for all patient charts as to who was in the chart and when. We ran into a problem with a staff member who had to be terminated and because of the log we were able to pinpoint who actually had shared information outside of the clinic without any doubt.
As a physician the templates are very user friendly and certainly aid in completing of the records in a timely fashion. It is very nice to be able to review all test results whether they have been downloaded or scanned. The scanned documents are exactly as they were prior to the scanning thus cutting down on paper that has to be kept in the office.
Since its implementation we have been able to downsize our paper files by one complete stand alone filing system.
When seeing any other physicians patients we are able to see the allergies noted, the entire family history, graphing INR results, graph blood pressures, etc."
Dr Mike Peyton - Malone Medical Clinic - Drayton Valley, AB

"I manage an office of 6 physicians who are extremely busy and involved in all types of Rural Practice. In 2003 we had to choose another software vendor as the software we had in place, the support/owners had left in the night and never advised any clients. To say the least, I was extremely skeptical about every company we interviewed and had demonstrations from. After on visit from the Wolf team, I was sold.
The software is very user friendly and when managing a clinic my time is valuable and not having to constantly be on the phone for support for the software was such a huge relief.
The software meets all specifications as set out by the Physician Office Systems Program in Alberta and after a visit from the POSP implementation staff we easily met all criteria.
We are able to use all aspects of Wolf from the scanning of documents, to booking appointments, referrals to specialist to downloading all lab results.
I have worked with Wolf many times that are suitable to me in order to update, repair or review any issues we have ever had with the software. Their support team has always been reachable whether it be a weekend or after hours. They too, have worked very well with our hardware vendors and with all of our equipment changes.
I would have no problem in recommending them to any office and feel that a positive experience would be achieved easily.
I feel the investigation that Wolf did prior to selling the software speaks for itself. They went to the people who would be using the software and implemented many of the ideas. As well, they had input from physicians themselves.
Thus I believe that this has paved the way for them by selling a software solution that is truly an asset to the transition from charts to a paperless system that has been a very positive experience for our office.
Should you want to speak to me about it, please do not hesitate to contact me directly."

More about POSP & VCUR
This provincial program, now in its 3rd phase, administers government funding for eligible Alberta physicians who seek to implement an EMR solution. To ensure that vendor solutions meet provincial standards, the POSP regularly asks vendors to undergo rigorous testing against standards set out by the Vendor Conformance and Usability Requirements (VCUR). Meeting these requirements means that a vendor is considered "VCUR compliant" in Alberta, a requirement for physicians who wish to obtain government funding for their EMR implementations. A total of 18 physician office systems offered by eight vendors have been tested against POSP's latest set of Vendor Conformance and Usability Requirements (VCUR) and appear on the new VCUR Product List.
