The primary mission of the Council for High Performance Medicine Council is to highlight the difference EMR technology can make in improving patient care. “More than 90 percent of family physicians in British Columbia are using paper charts, despite the benefits of adopting electronic medical records to both the practice of the medicine and the delivery of high quality patient care,” said Brendan Byrne, president and founder, Wolf Medical Systems. “With its proposed technology funding, the Government stepping forward to help B.C. doctors transform their practices and patient care; now its time for extol the benefits from the physicians’ perspective and encourage adoption.”
EMR users or potential users in B.C. are invited to join Wolf Medical Systems, Microsoft, and HP at the meeting and share opinions on the question: “What are the barriers to EMR adoption in BC, and what can be done to overcome them?” The goal of this meeting is to understand the real impact that EMR can make to improving patient care in B.C., and identify the obstacles or challenges that may be impeding adoption. Several physicians are scheduled to speak on their experiences with EMR and the barriers to EMR adoption in B.C.
