Wolf Medical Systems Signs Master Service Agreement with Physician Information Technology Office (PITO) in British Columbia

Wolf successfully achieves milestone in the EMR procurement process with the signing of the EMR Master Standing Agreement (MSA); Wolf poised to deliver EMR to eligible doctors in BC over the next five years

For Immediate release

Vancouver, BC – Dec 21, 2007 – Wolf Medical Systems, a leading national provider of electronic medical records (EMR) software for physician offices and medical clinics across Canada, today announced that subject to the satisfactory completion of conformance testing in 2008 Wolf will be certified to offer EMR systems to physicians receiving PITO funding over the next five years. This development marks an important milestone in the EMR procurement process in British Columbia. Wolf will now be one of only two EMR vendors in Canada certified in all three funded markets to deliver electronic medical records technology to eligible physicians in Ontario, Alberta and BC.

The signing of the MSA marks the end of a rigorous multi-stage procurement process that began 10 months ago; the final vendor selection to proceed to the conformance testing phase was made by an evaluation committee consisting of physicians in private practice, British Columbia Medical Association representatives, Ministry of Health staff and contractors.

Commented Dr. Brendan Byrne, Wolf Medical Systems’ president and CEO: “This is a fantastic milestone for Wolf and a huge step forward for BC physicians. After 15 years working closely with BC’s EMR early adopters, we’re excited to see the government remove the financial barriers to wider EMR deployment in the province. This funding puts improved health care services, health incomes, and vastly superior physician access to clinical information within reach of all BC physicians.”

Wolf Medical Suite will provide physicians with enhanced electronic tools to allow them to perform a wide variety of clinical functions online including creating prescriptions and prescription renewals, receiving lab test results, preparing referrals and consultation notes and taking notes from patient visits.

Added Dr. Byrne, “Physicians aren’t the only ones to benefit from easier access to EMR software; improved physician access to clinical information will directly benefit BC patients. The electronic management of tests, assessments, medications and prescriptions benefits patients directly by reducing duplicates and errors in tests, medications, and prescriptions. The articulation of strict new privacy and confidentiality policies as defined in legislation and professional practice standards will ensure that patient records are held to an even higher standard of security.”

Wolf looks forward to working with even more of BC’s doctors as more physicians implement electronic medical records (EMRs) into their practices.
