Wolf Medical Systems Announces Support for Alberta’s Toward Optimized Practice (TOP) Quality Improvement Initiative, the Health Screen in ACT10N Campaign

Vancouver, BC – February 3, 2008 – Wolf Medical Systems, a leading national provider of electronic medical records (EMR) software for physician offices and medical clinics across Canada, is pleased to announce support for Alberta’s Toward Optimized Practice (TOP) Quality improvement Initiative, the Health Screen in ACT10N campaign. Wolf is one of the first VCUR-certified vendors in Alberta to provide integrated support for TOP.

The Health Screen in ACT10N campaign is based on evidence that the use of checklists dramatically increases the reliability with which appropriate screening maneuvers are conducted or ordered by 20%, thereby increasing the effectiveness of periodic health exams (or equivalent). The campaign provides physicians with the ability to see where they are at prior to using these checklists and to assess the positive impact a formal checklist has on screening their patients.

Wolf has worked with TOP to ensure that Wolf users in Alberta can access the Health Screen in ACT10N checklists directly from Wolf Medical Suite. Wolf has developed a customization service to implement the TOP templates, TOP Health Screening flowsheet, and import a series of Rules/Searches to track Health Screening Maneuvers. As an added incentive, this program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for up to 18.0 Mainpro-C credits. Mainpro-M1 credits are available to campaign participants who do not wish to complete the reflective requirements for Mainpro-C credits.
