Wolf is the First EMR Vendor to Complete Conformance Testing for the Electronic Medical Summary Project

September 9 Victoria, BC- Wolf Medical Systems (www.wolfmedical.com) BC's leading vendor of Electronic Medical Records announces that their Wolf Medical Suite is the first EMR to complete vendor conformance testing of the new e-MS standard for electronic medical record integration and interoperability. The e-MS is the emerging standard for the Electronic Medical Summary. This summary is a subset of patient data suitable for communication among primary health care practitioners and other health care providers who share the care of a patient.

As patients move through the B.C. health care system, their medical history and up-to-date medical data must move with them. If a patient is to receive the best possible care, accurate, relevant medical history, diagnosis, and treatment information must be available quickly and easily to each health care provider wherever the patient accesses the health care system. To improve health care for every British Columbian, the province has committed to the development of the Electronic Medical Summary (e-MS) Project. The e-MS system uses information technology to make communicating reliable patient information easier, faster, and more efficient.

About the e-MS Project:
The e-MS Project (www.e-ms.ca) is part of a larger vision for integrated health information management in B.C. and is expected to be one of the key building blocks for an electronic health record (EHR) for the province. The EHR working groups focus on the development of an overall federated architecture between the health authorities and the ministry to allow specific EHR projects and approaches, like e-MS, to be positioned within a common framework.
